Mortgage Advise
Documents you will need when applying for a mortgage.
Proof of identity to comply with Irish law. i.e. A passport or drivers licence
Proof of address: a utility bill official document addressed to you such as a tax statement
A recent tax statement some lenders require 3 or 4 consecutive statements.
Proof of permanent employment: a letter from your employer if self employed you should have three years accounts.
In addition, your most recent P60 from the revenue commissioners will be required.
You may be asked for previous mortgage statements and details of any current personal borrowing, such as car loans or credit card debts, or some other indication that you have a good track record.
Stamp Duty
There is an exemption of stamp duty on houses up to a value of €317,500 for first time buyers purchasing a residential property to occupy as their own home. Stamp duty will apply on properties above €317,500 on a sliding scale basis.
Existing property owners purchasing a residential property to occupy as their new home will be exempt from stamp duty on properties valued up to €127,000 and a sliding scale will apply from then on.
